being in the military, people think that there really isn’t anything new about GY or in other words he’d barely make news. na-ah! before the end of March, i found a handful of articles about GY. this entry has a couple of them.
one is about his popularity still rising in Asia despite the fact that he is in the military and another i read from a couple of forums and not sure of the exact source so maybe it’s not true but maybe it is… but if you’re a GY fan anything is still news… J

Gong Yoo
has risen as a Korean wave star of the new generation.After “Coffee Prince” aired in Japan, China, and Taiwan [and Philippines, I would like to add hehe], Gong Yoo’s popularity has soared and he is receiving the spotlight as the top Korean wave star of this year.
It has been known that it has gained so much popularity in Japan that it will be moved from cable channels to public channels. Also, a recent photo book of Gong Yoo published in Japan has been reprinted after being sold out.Also, the cover stories or cover model of many local Korean wave magazines are being edited to revolve around Gong Yoo.
His popularity in China is also hot. Thanks to viewers who have fallen into Gong Yoo’s charm, his past dramas are receiving the spotlight and are forming a new market.
All the attention from overseas is reaching Gong Yoo, who is in the army. Somehow, these overseas fans found out his address, and there are piles of fan letters from various countries.
It is only unfortunate for him and for his entertainment company that they cannot give feedback to such warm reception overseas. In the light of previous Korean wave stars, we can only imagine millions of dollars of import if only he was able to foster his popularity through promotions and commercials.
However, it is a grateful thing that although he is in the army, his popularity is actually growing. From the viewpoint of Officer Gong Yoo, it seems he can throw away the worries of coming back into the entertainment industry after getting out of the army and serve lightheartedly.
Also, other stars from “Coffee Prince” are also taking advantage of the popularity.
One of the three men from “Coffee Prince“, Lee Eon, is preparing for a fan signing event in Japan. The other lead character Lee Seon-gyoon is planning to visit Japan to promote “White Tower” with Kim Myeong-min. It is expected that even “Coffee Prince” fans will gather, and the expectation is growing.

though they have been linked to different actors/actresses like gong yoo to im so jung and song hye kyo to rain, but the real deal is really about gong yoo and song hye kyo..song hye kyo, broke up with boyfriend lee byung hun early 2006 and now hun is with somebody else. also song hye kyo, being linked to rain, but both denied any relationship between them.
gong yoo on the other hand, was linked to im so jung, whom he is with last year in jejodu island. but again both yoo and jung denied it and both said they are just friends.
but now, the deal with yoo and hye kyo is a bit hush hush.. ’cause they have never been seen together publicly, but the news started coming when it was gong yoo enlistment day when yoo bid good bye to his fans who came infront of the camp.. it was said that when he went down to meet his fans.. when the door opened.. group of yoo’s fans saw a girl inside who is wearing big sun glasses and a cap.. but they said they couldn’t be mistaken that it is song hye kyo.. because one of the fans yelled her name and the suppose girl inside yoo’s van looked and even smiled.. so is it hye kyo? and lately, hye kyo was seen with yoo’s parents having dinner.. and hye kyo was also seen with yoo’s older sister in a shop.. though things are not yet cleared.. but hey, a girl in yoo’s van? having dinner with his parents and shopping with his sister? sounds like they have something..
